So what have I done musically?
I gigged around in a band for many years writing songs, singing lead vocals, and noodling around on lead guitar. I also worked as a composer at a repertory theatre writing musicals. I also produced, remixed, and DJ'd electronic music all over the east coast. I also wrote music that has been featured in films, ads, and other online media. I almost exclusively recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered all of the above projects myself. I am what they call a "music nerd". Don't believe me? Check out some of my work below.
Compositions for Video
Current solo project, that embraces both the live and raw elements of rock, with the slick and driving energy of dance. This music is a pure amalgamation of all of Gray's experiences in both playing in a rock band and producing electronic music. Since the project's start in the summer of 2015, Ian Aware has released two EPs, and a handful of singles and remixes. Gray is currently working on new music, and looking to put together a live band.
Started in the 2009 by Kenny and his brother Adam, Tom Flash was a high energy, in your face rock and roll band. Inspired by acts such as Van Halen, Jet, and Wolfmother, the group's strongsuit was their raucous live performances and overall musicianship. The band featured Kenny Gray (Guitar/Vox) and Adam Gray (Drums), and longtime childhood friends Ryan Tidwell (Bass), and Kaleb Wells (Lead Vocals/Harmonica). After their initial start the band quickly gained momentum, and within a year had one the New England wide battle of the bands. Aftter the release of their first EP (In Flash We Tust, 2011), the band were offered the chance to record a full length with Warren Huart (Aerosmith, The Fray). However, the band ended up disbanding in 2012. Two years later though, Gray decided to reform the band to generate some new material keeping Tidwell on bass, and adding John Spinney (Drums), and Matt Gennetti (Keys/Guitar). The group recorded two EP's before once again disbanding in 2015.
KENNY GRAY (DJ)
During his time in Tom Flash, Kenny became fascinated with the electronic music scene blossoming in america in the late 2000's. Inspired by the booming sounds of Soulwax, Justice, LCD Soundsystem, and Boys Noize, he began to explore the world of DJ'ing and production. Throughout college he would DJ house parties, make remixes, and attempt his own originals under the moniker "Vendetta Nazareth". However, it wasn't until Tom Flash disbanded in 2012 that things really took off. Lefty without a project, he jumped headfirst into the world of electronic music, and began to DJ and produce. From 2012-2014 he would release a wide array of remixes, mixes, and originals, both by himself and in collaboration with friends (FACTION, KGBV).
